Sports massage in Heath Hayes, Cannock

Sports massage isn’t just for athletes. At OXN Injury Rehabilitation in Heath Hayes, we provide personalised, hands-on treatment to help manage muscular tightness, soreness and discomfort.

Whether you’re physically active, recovering from demanding exercise or experiencing everyday muscular aches, each session is tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Who Is Sports Massage Suitable For?

Whether you spend long hours sitting at a desk, have a physically demanding job, regularly attend the gym or participate in recreational sport, treatment can be tailored to your needs.

Sports massage may help provide short-term relief from muscular discomfort and a sense of relaxation. Treatment pressure and techniques are adjusted according to your preferences and tolerance.

If you’re experiencing persistent pain, a recent injury or symptoms that require further investigation, a more detailed musculoskeletal assessment may be appropriate.

What to Expect from Your Sports Massage

Sports massage at OXN is available as either a 40-minute appointment or an extended 75-minute appointment, suitable for full-body treatment or addressing multiple areas.

We’ll begin by discussing any areas of discomfort, your activity levels and what you’d like to achieve from the session.

Treatment may involve a combination of hands-on soft tissue techniques, with pressure adjusted according to your preferences and comfort. Where appropriate, cupping therapy may also be incorporated into your treatment, following discussion and consent.

As a qualified Sport Rehabilitator, I can also recognise when symptoms may require a more detailed injury assessment rather than massage alone.

Sports Massage FAQs

Is sports massage supposed to be painful?

Sports massage can involve firm pressure and may occasionally feel uncomfortable, but treatment should never be excessively painful.

Pressure and techniques are adjusted to your individual comfort and preferences, and you’re encouraged to communicate throughout your appointment.

Can I book sports massage if I have an injury?

It depends on the nature of your injury. Sports massage can be appropriate for most types of muscular discomfort and techniques used can be adapted to suit your needs, but certain injuries and symptoms require a more detailed assessment before treatment.

At OXN, we can help determine whether sports massage is appropriate or whether a dedicated injury assessment would be more suitable.

– Will cupping therapy leave marks?

Cupping therapy can leave temporary circular marks on the skin due to the suction applied during treatment. These are usually harmless and typically fade within several days, although they can sometimes take longer.

Cupping is optional and will only be incorporated into your treatment where appropriate and with your consent.
